ENROLLING AT PRINCE ALFRED COLLEGE
Prince Alfred College enrols boys from the age of 3 to 18 in classes from the Early Learning Centre to Year 12. Places are also available for girls in the Early Learning Centre, and enrolments are only accepted on the understanding that girls will not be enrolled beyond the time they are due to commence Reception, when it is expected they will leave Prince Alfred College and enrol at their school of choice. Boarders are enrolled at secondary level (Years 8 to 12). Under special circumstances Year 7 boys may be accepted as boarders. The main points of entry are the Early Learning Centre, Reception, Year 5, Year 8 and Year 10, but many boys enter at intervening year levels depending upon vacancies being available.
When an application form has been completed and returned together with an application fee of $75 and a copy of the Birth Certificate or Extract of Birth, your son's name will be placed on our entry list. Evidence of Permanent Residency must be supplied for those who are not born in Australia; otherwise their enrolment will be processed as an International enrolment. We will continue to keep you informed of activities and developments of the school from this point. Approximately 15 months prior to your son's proposed entry, you will receive a letter, asking you to confirm your intentions for your son's application. In the March preceding your son's proposed entry into the school, and providing a place is available, a formal offer of enrolment will be made. Please note all students must have an interview with either the Headmaster and / or Head of the relevant School prior to your son's commencement at the College. This is to ensure Prince Alfred College is satisfied that it can offer your son an appropriate educational pathway.
Basic priority in these matters will be given according to the College Enrolment Policy, i.e. to the date of lodgment of the original application form and to boys with brothers currently attending Prince Alfred College or sons/grandsons of Old Scholars.
The final enrolment procedures that normally take place in the early part of the year prior to entry are co-ordinated in timing with other Independent Schools.

International Students
All International applicants must sit an Aptitude and Proficiency Test organised by ITSA Global (or other recognised testing service) with results forwarded to the School Registrar along with the Application for Enrolment. A copy of the student's passport must also accompany the Application. A student's English must be sufficiently developed to enable him to cope with the college's academic program, as limited assistance is available through the ESL curriculum. If not, the student’s family prior to commencement at Prince Alfred College must arrange time at a recognised Language Centre.
